Bejewelled Bags, further explorations………
I’ve been looking at various new ideas for this bags workshop including 17thc pockets which are a lovely way of adapting the bejewelled bags technique. You will learn how to foil black cotton velvet, find out what different kinds of glue do when foiled, collage with fabrics and sweetie foils and lots of ideas for machine embroidery. Some materials extra.

Tantalising Textile Tag Books
While delving into a pile of creative book publications I found this project by Jan Bode Smiley. I've added my own style to these little tag books. Techniques and materials include calico, treated interlining (see my book), stamping, image transfer, and hand and machine embroidery. Great fun for all abilities. Materials available for small fee.

Magical Mica
This is another workshop for those interested in book arts and mixed media. Mica is a mineral that looks a bit like glass but can be split into several layers, printed and embossed, stitched and used for all sorts of decorative applications. Really interesting stuff and something worth learning more about.

Machine Embroidery for Beginners
My beginners classes can help rusty stitchers as well as newcomers to the art. Learn about your mysterious sewing machine and it’s gadgets, have a go at free machine embroidery, unravel the baffling array of needles, threads and other bits and bobs you need to get started.

Textural Bookwraps
Gosh it’s a long time since I had the article in Quilting Arts magazine about these lovely wraps. I must have come up with something new by now, right? Well yes I have, I’ve experimented with forma-a-foam prints, woven surfaces, strips and stitch programs. Great fun if you have 180 stitches on your machine, though don’t worry if you don’t zig-zags and straight stitches can be just as effective. Wrapped cords and dangly bits to finish off, good fun for all abilities.

Inspired by Hundertwasser
This workshop teaches you how to use transfoils, sweetie foils and silks to decorate the surface of black cotton velvet, then top off with organza and machine embroidery all inspired by the patterns and colour of painter Huntertwasser.

Exploring Velvet
I’ve made a DVD with Colouricious on this subject. You will learn how to colour velvet and discharge to create pattern, add a shimmering surface with foils and glitters and experiment with whip stitches, cording and vermicelli to name but a few machine embroidery stitches.

Indian Block Printing with a Difference
Try using forma-foam to impress into Indian textiles, over print with Indian wood blocks and experiment with vibrant fluorescent coloured acrylics onto hand dyed cotton fabrics. The result is a shimmering feast for the eyes!! Materials cost extra.

Illuminated Icons
This was the first of the velvet style workshop. I developed a perforation technique using the sewing machine. You need to collect as many aluminium sweetie foils as you can, then all you need is an image a small piece of black cotton velvet and some bondaweb, oh yes and you need a sewing machine to embellish. Come and have a go, they are good fun to make.

Shimmering Landscapes
Back to black cotton velvet again, I’ve developed this workshop to show you how to use transfoils with bondaweb, Mistyfuse, Fuse FX, Hotspots and Supermend. Taking simple land or seascapes as a theme I will show you how to use these glues to make a twinkling surface for stitch.

If you don’t know by now….I am inspired by Klimt! Check my website to find this out. His shapes and pattern are easy to draw upon for a one day workshop. Again this is a velvet workshop using foils, organza and stitch, the results are pleasing and more often than not students have a farmable piece at the end of the day.

PRINT! STAMP! STITCH! With Angie & Jeanette
This is a new workshop, I’m experimenting with stamping for the new book and Jeanette has been working with thermofax screen printing, so we thought we’d get together and present a workshop combining the two techniques. If want a sneaky preview come along to discover old and new ideas with stitch and paint, but be prepared you will be guinea pigs!!! All the best Eureka moments happen on these workshops. Fee includes inks but you will need fabric.

Transfers, Stencils and Stitch
An introduction to the wonderful world of transfer printing. I remember my early forays into this subject using simple polyester fabrics twenty years ago nowadays we have lovely fabrics such as Kunin felt and Evolon to play with. You will learn how to make simple stencils and resits from plain paper and the best ways of using disperse dyes to transfer patterns with an iron onto fabrics. Layering colours in this way produces the most delicious misty surfaces for stitch. Ir-resist-ible!!...more
